2024 Set Build (or Topps Hates Set Builders)

After pitching lessons for the boys today, we stopped off at Wally World to see what cards they might have.   My oldest just wanted some new grip tape for his wood bat and the youngest was on the hunt for Godzilla toys. We batted .500 in that department -- no Godzilla toys unfortunately, but he did explain to me that for spring break he would like to go to Japan and do the Godzilla Japan tour! I picked up a $15 blaster of 2023 Series 1 and a $13 hanger of 2024 Topps.  In my previous post after buying a Hobby Box of 2024, I needed 150 for the 350 Series 1 base set.  Let's just say after this hanger box it was not pretty. Not sure how this is possible but here is the rundown: Hanger box has 59 cards --- 9 are inserts. I could pass on the '89's and the Star of MLB, although I do like the Blueprint designs and was glad to pick one up. So that leaves 50 base --- and out of 150 base needs, I got a whopping 3 new cards.  For those statistical guys that is an .060 batting average.
