Thank You - Johnny's Trading Spot

Thank you so much to John over at Johnny's Trading Spot for the 2026 Care Package of Cubs that arrived last week.

This week marked the official opening weekend of travel ball season for my oldest, so was very delayed in dropping a thank you to John for the great group of Cubs cards! My oldest and I spent the entire weekend starting on Wednesday night in South Bend to start the season.

This care package was greatly appreciated and I'm so thankful to have a good group of friends that I've made through blogging. Work has continued to be extremely stressful and fortunately between cards and the baseball season there are things to put things back into perspective.

The biggest surprise in this group was a 1972 Batting Leaders autograph of Glenn Beckert! I was really surprised to see this card in there and appreciate this one greatly! It's not often to get one like that!

Included in here were also several of the Topps 582 Montgomery Club cards, which are always a great addition to the set and cards I rarely ever see at the LCS. The no-hitter card from last year was a great thing to watch.

I call this group the potpourri group of cards with a nice group of sticker cards from players after my collecting days (2011) and some from my collecting days 1990.

Seiya Suzuki is one of my favorite players on the current roster and I'm hoping the Cubs will be able to keep him next year, but it's not looking great!

Another Cub favorite is Shota, who started off the year on fire, but for some reason has been absolutely crushed the last 4 outings. I'm wondering if somehow he is tipping pitches because multiple teams have been hammering the ball against him.

Finally this last group is a nice group of 2025 Holiday. I noticed the duplicate PCA card in this group and the upon further review noticed this is the Candy Cane bat parallel, which is greatly appreciated.

Finally to end it off an unusual state quarter card of Illinois. Kind of ironic that this card arrived because it was just announced this week that my Chicago Bears are going to be moving a short way from their current home to Hammond, Indiana. Not a huge deal by way of distance but a bit embarrassing for my old home state to have lost the Bears. Now my current home state has two NFL franchises in it!
