09-04-2024 — Cubs Combined No Hitter

It was awesome this past Wednesday night being able to see a no-hitter live on television as a family as Shota Imanaga, Nate Pearson, and Porter Hodge delivered a combined no hitter in a 12-0 win over the Pirates.

It was fun watching the game with my wife and two sons! We’ll admit we might have been yelling at the TV a little bit when Imanaga was taken out of the game in the 7th — apparently he had no idea that he was delivering a no-no at the time he was taken out.

Neat fact that #18 threw the 18th no hitter in Cubs history when #18 for the Bears is also looking to embark on what will hopefully be an exciting rookie season! Let’s hope that’s a good omen for this coming Sunday.

The last no hitter for the Cubbies was a combined no-hitter against the Dodgers in L.A. back in June 2021,  delivered by Zach Davies, Ryan Tepera, Andrew Chafin, and Craig Kimbrel. Surprisingly the last no-hitter at Wrigley Field was September 2, 1972 when Milt Pappas threw a nearly perfect game, that was ruined with the 27th batter after walking Larry Stahl on a 3-2 count.

It was a cool way to spend the evening with the family and see a bit of history at the same time!

  1. Hopefully Imanaga rookies don't shoot up in value. At least not until I can get my hands on a copy.

    1. I hear you. Lucked into this one from a hanger box from Dick's Sporting Goods the other day!

  2. I have both Imanaga and Hodge on my fantasy teams: itnwas pretty cool, though I too wish they had kept Imanaga in.
