Very LATE Thank You -
Was able to take today off and get one thing around the house done —> unfortunately as I have been afraid of, our 13 year old furnace is needing to be replaced. That won’t be a fun expenditure right after the holidays, but fortunately we have a nice emergency fund for these type of expenses.
After that was done, spent all afternoon with the family visiting our local mall. That is definitely not my cup of tea and there were people everywhere, but it was worth it being able to spend time with my wife and two boys. My oldest was really excited to visit the Apple Store and did not want to miss these moments with them.
After the mall visit, they were kind enough to let me spend an hour visiting our local card shop. The oldest even help me to sort out through the set building box of 2024 Heritage as I work through that set.
As I was doing that realized that I completely forgot to thank Greg at Night Owl Cards for our “Trade” last month. I passed along a 2024 Heritage “White Border / Red Border” Kershaw, and he passed along well over 100 of his Heritage Duplicates from his set build. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures, but his contribution was greatly appreciated.
A few of the Cub Highlights from the LCS Visit Today!
Was also able to pick up the awesome 1969 Billy Williams and 1961 Don Zimmer for the vintage collection. My childhood self would have been shocked to spend over $5 for a card, so am very fortunately to have some extra cash to devote to the collection.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is looking forward to a great 2025!
Always great to spend some family time. Great additions!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Really happy for that Billy Williams and beats a new pack of cards any day!
Deletehangin with the fam and vintage baseball cards.... it's a win
ReplyDeleteAgreed, time moves so fast so time with them is so valuable...
DeleteA. One of the units I teach is on finances... where I try to help my middle school students understand the value of a dollar and the cost of living expenses they'll need to worry about when they grow up. The emergency fund is so important. It seems like on average... a home appliance breaks down every year or every other year. Sometimes it's just a microwave. Other times it's a washer, dryer, or refrigerator. I was blown away at how much a new garage door opener set me back last year.
ReplyDeleteB. Loved going to the mall with my parents as a kid. They were so memorable. Glad you're making memories like that with your family.
C. I love the Apple store too!
D. That's really cool that they hung out with you at the card shop afterwards. It doesn't get better than that.
