Happy New Year - 2025 Goals

Happy New Year to everyone out there, and hoping it was a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve last night.

Was glad for the day off today to rest up heading into 2025. Year-end is typically a busy time in the accounting/finance world, so anticipating a busy January. Fortunately the weather around here is not conducive to doing much of anything outside so it’s a good time of year to get things done.

Today was an exciting day — lunch at Subway with my youngest (always our favorite lunch spot), and taking my oldest out to teach him how to drive!!

Needless to say a little nervous to do that, but since we have a 10 year old Honda Civic, it’s a pretty easy car to learn on. Ironically, I learned to drive on a Honda Civic with my dad way too many years ago.

He did great as we practiced in a nearby sports field parking lot with plenty of room between curbs! He’s very excited about it and looking forward to practicing again this weekend.

Now for some 2025 collecting goals heading into the New Year.

  1. Stay focused on my All Stars and All Star Rookies sub-set builds. This has been a goal for a while and when out and about in card shops or antique stores, or watching on WhatNot try to pick up one or two at a good price. Pictured are a few of my older vintage All Stars. The biggest goal is to finish several of these from 1976 and forward. My biggest concern is the 1977 Mark Fidrych card which is both an All-Star and All-Star Rookie - hopefully I can find one that’s not too outrageous.
  2. Complete several Cubs Team Sets - and stay on top of blogging about it.
  3. Add to my player collection —> I don’t have a lot of individual players that I collected, but a few modern players are Hunter Greene, Mookie Betts, and Kris Bryant.
  4. Do a better job of tracking these goals — easiest thing will be to setup a draft post and continue to add to it over the year!
Overall I hope everyone had a great NYE and for those of you lucky enough to get the next 4 days off enjoy the break!

    1. Thanks! Will do. Try to pass that along over the weekend since we may be getting 3-12 inches of snow!

  2. Happy New Year! Sounds like an awesome day with the family. I've been meaning to try out Subway's fiery meatball sandwich. As for teaching your son how to drive... that sounds like a lot of fun. I remember my dad taking me to my old middle school's parking lot to practice. I probably stalled his Corolla 25 to 50 times that day.

    1. It was. The Spicy Nacho Chicken was pretty good!

The driving was fun but odd sitting in the passenger seat!
