What Happened to Spring?
It's been a little over a month since my last post, but that's okay. As I'm seeing throughout others' blogs, life is getting in the way.
Summer baseball season hit us in full force and between my youngest's Little League games and my older son's travel ball season, not a lot of free evenings lately.
One nice thing about 15U travel ball games is we don't have 8 am Saturday morning games --- however we have Thursday 9 am games! Because it's now high school level, games don't start until June and end in July. As a result we're halfway through the season.
I wouldn't miss these games for the world though and have been fortunate to make all games except for two, because my youngest was playing in his Little League end of season tournament game.
One cool way to start the summer was being able to watch my oldest get recognized on "X" because he was awarded player of the game. 6 IP, 5H, 2BB, 2Ks from the bump, and 3-4 at the plate with an RBI, led our team to our first win of the season! It's great watching him continue to develop as a pitcher, but also making huge contributions at the plate, and 3B!
This weekend we were able to spend three days together in Louisville at a large tournament and faced some tough teams. We had a great time seeing a Louisville Bats game on Friday night and even found a few minutes to hit a Louisville card shop. Overall we had a nice weekend together and really looking forward to watching our last three tournaments of the year!
These were some of the great adds for $20 -- was glad to find a few Cubs needs and am nearly there on the 1957 Cubs Team Set after grabbing this Team Card for $3...Now just need the Ernie and that will complete one of my favorite years.
Last week while we were gone some additional WhatNot auction wins also made it. Was able to find a great show and the seller was willing to give away these two 1971s for $7! I only have one more League Leaders cards and the 1971 Team Set will be wrapped up. Was also able to add some great Phila and KC A's to the collection as well!
Finally was able to find Darrell Evans Quaker Chewy Granola Bars on E-bay for 50 cents to make this set complete! I've had several cards since I was a kid back in 1986 and was able to complete this set through CardBarrel and Ebay.
Hopefully everyone's summer has been going well and we're enjoying those 90+ degree days!
I love those 90+ days myself. It must truly be a blast with the boys playing ball.
ReplyDeleteJon - we've actually been fortunate to have a really mild spring so far, so it was only a matter of time before those 90 degree days hit.
DeleteI count every game I am able to be there for and help coach as a blessing since I know it's such a short window of time while they're still kids!
