Topps All Star Rookies (3 Years Complete)

Received a healthy set of Topps All Star Rookies this week thanks to a healthy order from Card Barrell as a built out my collection of these players. Trying to stay focused on the years where I had at least one card from the year.

I was able to knock out 1987, 1989, and 1992 from this order. Those were all critical years for me as a young card collector.  11 and 13 are prime years as a kid who loved sports, especially for baseball players. It's hard to believe that my youngest is now 11. His interests vary greatly than mine, but I love helping him build out his two collections, Godzilla Figures and Halloween Masks. It's so fun to watch what he's into. He uses the Halloween masks when he makes his You Tube videos and they're fun to watch!

I was really happy with the speed of Card Barrell as they had this filled and delivered in 5 days. I need to get there more to finish off the 2024 set that I'm really close on.

Anyway here are the current stats -- the "Y (OD)" designation means I have the Opening Day card, but not the Topps Base card. I guess you'd say it's a "1/2 Y".

1987 had some fairly decent players. I'd say the best player in this group was Jose Canseco. Since I liked the late 1980s / early 1990 A's, this was a card I always wanted to have. Wally Joyner had a 16 year career and I also remember Danny Tartabull as a good power hitter. He had a 14 year career.  Incaviglia also had a nice career and I remember him as a power hitter.

1989 was also a pretty solid year. Mark Grace was one of my favorite players. Out of this group, thinking he's probably the best of the bunch. Chris Sabo was no slouch either and he was famous as having the rec specs. Until I was able to wear contacts use to want a pair of those so bad, but unfortunately just had to wear regular glasses while playing ball as a kid.  Buhner, Grant and Weiss round out the rest of this group.

When I was younger remember being really disappointed in the 1992 design. Some of it probably also had to do with being 16, and instead of being interested in cards, probably started to be more interested in girls? 4 Astros and 2 Tigers made up 60% of this set with Bagwell being the standout in the group. Al Osuna looks about 40 in this picture, but he's 25! Ivan Rodriguez is definitely the best catcher of these three years by far.

It's tough to pick which team of the three would be the best. Thinking 1987 team would edge out the 1989 team, with the 1992 team being the third place team in this group?
