1982 Topps Chicago Cubs

Date Completed: 25 September 2021 (E-bay team set purchase)

Cubs 1982 Record: 73-89. Finished 5th in NL East

Best looking card: Ivan DeJesus -- a neat dugout shot that isn't a typical posed photo
Worst looking card: Joe Strain -- looks kind of like he's doing what his last name is

Best Fun Facts:
  • Bill Buckner is apparently one of the N.L.'s toughest batters to strike out -- which does seem true -- he struck out 16 times in 1981 and 18 times in 1980!
  • Hector Cruz, had two brothers in the bigs as well -- Jose and Cirilo.
  • Mike Tyson started the NL's only triple play of the year in 1977.
Things I like about this set:
  • The left side design of the card with two colors, but they missed the boat with some kind of light pink and light blue for the Cubs
  • Few more candid shots (DeJesus, Jody Davis, Leon Durham, Mike Tyson)
  • Like the green and blue backs -
Things I don't like about this set:
  • Continued poor photography (fuzzy graphics
  • Pink for the graphics is not good - should definitely be team colors
  • Fun facts on the back have nothing to do with the players - odd to see Pete Rose facts on the back of a Joe Strain card
