Free Baseball Cards
Am very appreciative of some free baseball cards that someone gave to me today. There is a small coin and stamp shop in my town and I stopped several months ago to see if they may have any baseball cards. The shop owner does not sell them, however he had a jumbo box of cards that came from a small estate that he had bought several years ago.
There were some really cool cards in there including a few tobacco cards and he let me take the box home to look through with my son.
I found a really neat stack of vintage Cubs, Expos, Royals, Topps All Stars, that I pulled out and was planning to offer him some money for. Most are pretty beat up, but I am not overly concerned especially when it comes to Banks or Williams.
To my surprise, he just said don't worry about it and let me keep the stack of around 100 cards! I was really grateful for that and plan to take my coin collection to him and see what he thinks, and if there might be anything I could expand into in the future!
This is the first grouping of 1968 Cubs of which I have very few in my collection.
Most are pretty beat up, but it's great to get 3 Billy Williams and 2 Ernie Banks!
That's very generous! Nice cards, too.
ReplyDeleteWow, you don't hear about shop dealers like that much anymore. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteVery generous of that store owner. Like Night Owl pointed out... you don't hear those kind of stories very often when it comes to businesses.
