Surprise Mail Day - Johnny's Trading Spot

A big thank you goes out to John at Johnny's Trading Spot. Have not been doing much with my collection lately other than a TCDb trade back in September that I'm still waiting to arrive and a blaster of 2025 Heritage that I picked up from Walgreens on the way home two weeks ago.

The lack of additions has mainly been due to 60+ hours as week at work, and fall baseball / high school football games. Looking forward to a slow down once the cold weather hits to get caught up at work, and also caught up at home.

One other nice surprise is that my wife and I celebrated our 19th anniversary this week -- so tonight was a nice dinner at our favorite nearby sushi restaurant. She has reminded me several times that for our 20th we are taking a trip somewhere "big" that neither she nor I have traveled to. Switzerland is one of the suggestions but we'll be starting the research this fall!

The card package from John was a nice mix of some modern, some vintage, and some autographs! I'm not sure how he knew that I did not have the Bill Stoneman but that was greatly appreciated! I'm down to Ken Holtzman, Ramon Hernandez, Clarence Jones, Jon Boccabella, Dick Nen, and the League Leaders to knock this Cubs Team set out.

I also really like the look of the Aramis Ramirez Upper Deck - it's a great design.

The DJ LaMahieu rookie is also really appreciated - this period was kind of my black hole in collecting and watching baseball, so I did not even realize he was a Cubbie for a very brief time.

Let's hope we see a nice Cubs win tonight for a date with Greg (Night Owl's) Dodgers!

  1. Check out the outfit of the lady in red over Stoneman's right shoulder on that 1968 Topps card. An usher? Or simply someone still getting dressed up for a day at the ballpark? Congrats on the anniversary. I've never been to Switzerland but it is on my household's vacation bucket list as well.

    1. Wonder if that could be someone working at the ball park as well?

    B. I've been busy too... but thankfully I haven't had to put in 60+ hours into work each week. I'm sitting at about 48 to 52.

    C. Sorry about the Cubs. They sure had one heck of a season.

  4. Happy belated anniversary! I must admit that I'm more than a bit curious... why Switzerland?

    1. We thought about that because it’s somewhere neither of us have been! We have pretty much all of western Europe covered!
