Kansas City Break and 1978 Cubs Team Set Completed

It’s been a really long time since I last posted! While I’ve still been adding to my collection work life has been brutal which means no time to post.

Fortunately my two boys had the entire week off from school so I decided to clear my schedule and make sure to take some time to smell the roses. I kind of had a wake up call about stress and work after losing two high school classmates to heart attacks in the last three months. It’s time to put things in perspective and get back to what’s important in life!

We had a great February trip to Bloomington, Illinois and Kansas City. My oldest was able to attend a baseball camp hosted by Illinois Wesleyan, where I did my undergrad. He was very nervous given it was his chance to showcase his skills and I was sad because of how fast he is growing up! He was able to get a few pointers and sounds like he enjoyed the camp and visiting campus.

In Kansas City we had a great four days visiting with family and doing a few sites. The weather early in the week was an amazing 70 degrees so we loved being outside together! Had some great BBQ and visited Harry Truman’s Presidential Library. We even found some time to visit a card shop in town.

Was able to pickup these goodies for $8, which also included the Royals 1983 Topps and Fleer Team sets! With these ‘78 Cubs I now have that team set completed. The best part of our trip was my oldest and I searching a 5000 count box of ‘79 for Dave Kingman which is the last need for the 79 Cubs. Even though we never found one the time talking and looking together was way more valuable!
