Brush with Fame!
So today had a few hours of free time and decided to make a trek over to Indy Card Exchange, the nearest card shop. My plan was to tackle a few more 2024 needs, grab a few new 2025s from the set builder box, and add a few vintage Cubbies. As I am sitting at the table a guy who looks familiar comes in and sits down behind me and it’s none other than Ryne Sandberg, THE vintage Cub and my childhood hero. As much as I would have loved a photo he was there with his grandson and son in law, and nobody really noticed who he was. I just said a brief hello and how it was a pleasure to meet him and as a kid he was my favorite baseball player of all time! The shop owner was able to get him opening some cards with his grandson and I was able to visit with his family while they did that. Talk about a surreal experience to be randomly sitting there and your childhood hero is there looking at vintage cards!
